SPARTACIST ACTIVITIES.
COPENHAGEN, March 9
Spartacists at Halle pillaged and wrecked shops and houses. They drowned many officers and university students, and also threw motor-cars into the river. .
- After severe fighting the Government troope gained control.
Government troops have surrounded Leipzig. The Spartacists are entrenched outside the town, which aviators, are bombing. The Workmen's and Soldiers' Council at' Berlin has decided to terminate the v general strike conditionally on none of the -strikers being punished, the troops being withdrawn, and the prisoners' arrested during the riots released. (Probably these terms, will he accepted. : ■ COPENHAGEN, March 7. Measures for the suppression of the Spartacus outbreak in Berlin are progressing satisfactorily. The attack against the Spartacists in the Alexander quarter is proceeding favourably. Rioters surrounded the prefecture of police, which troops are defending. Other troops are arriving for its relief.
