ANNUAL CONFERENCE

At the Congregational Church Conference the registrar's report showed that the Church members numbered 2704, an increase of 31. Church property was vah-ied at £77,208, and manse property at £14,215, the debt on the former being £&523 and on the later £3780. The pastors' provident fund showed that £1000 had been- invested in war bonds during the year. The report recommended an increase of 20 per cent, in the annuities to meet the increased cost of 'living..
The conference, carried, resolutions unanimously that in the opinion of the conference church union was highly desirable' and should be seriously and sympathetically considered, also ■ expressing cordial-appreciation of the attitude regarding Church union taken up by the Presbyterian Assembly, and urging that the matter be referred to individual churches with a view to arriving at a- definite decision. It also was resolved to appoint a committee to further the cause of unity and to take steps to receive the decision of churches by September 30. '
