CROWN PRINCE AND MODISTE.
By mail further details have been received of an incident already reported ~by cable which nearly led to'the exCrown Prince.of Germany being stoned by a Dutch crowd. The. Amsterdam "Telegraaf" says:— "On Wednesday evening the exCrown .Prince stayed ..at the house of a certain ,G-— - with > an Amsterdam 'lady,' who. represented herself at Wieringen as a modiste. During that visit a crowd of villagers assembled before j t<—\s house, witnessing 1' through' the insufficiently darkened* windows a scene which modesty preserves from description. When the (Prince left the house tlie rage of the crowd burst forth, and nil sorts of abuse wert> shouted at him, while some men threatened to stone him. The Prince was only able to save hi in self by precipitate flight. -' '■■■■ \ "Some acquaintances of the Amsterdam 'lady,' who represented themselves as detectives of the-'Netherlands Union of Midnight Missions, . arrived on the island the same, day. They came, according, to their own statement, 'to look after the interests of the deserted woman with two children,' and one ofthem observed that'care nrust bo taken that the 'Amsterdam woman- was well paid. . "The police then intervened j and on Thursday two police officials' arrived at the Hotel de Haaii; interviewed a German baron staying there, and subse■lUiMitly the 'modiste.' On the. following day they went to the parsonage (the ox-Crown Prince's headquarters), where they remained some hours.
