INVERCARGILL, January 2. 1 The 'Southland Racing Club's summer meeting was opened in threatening weather. Several heavy showers fell, .and the track was heavy owing to the downpour overnight. The totalisator investments were £22,992 ,10s, compared with £17,474 10s on the corresponding day last year. The attendance \\ns> very large. The following aro the details of the racing : —
