MEETINGS.
WAKANUI
The third \ annual meeting of the Wakanui Red Cross Society was held on May 29. The president (Mrs Amos) was in tho chair, and there was a good attendance. The report and balancesheet as read and adopted showed that the branch had done good work during, the year. The sum of £106 los lOd had been spent in materiaife for work, and £5 5s had been donated to the Blanket and Basket Day Funds, leaving a credit balance of £128 l/>s 2d to start the fourth year's work. This satisfactory financial position was due chiefly to a. special canvass of the district, which brought £127. I.os. During the year 339 garments and 664 other articles have been forwarded to the Ashburton depot.
The retiring officers (Mrs Amos, president; Mrs Lewis, secretary; Mus.fi Moore, treasurer; and Mr Lewis, auditor) were unanimously re-elected.
The meeting passed a vote of sympathy with the relatives of -Corporal J. Doak, Private 11. Ooehrane,, and Trooper G. Smith, recently killed,at the. front.
