School Committee Meeting

A -special . meeting of the School Committee was held last evening. The i Rev. G.. K. Aitken presided, and there were also present:—Messrs Lock, Smith, and Dart. If was decided that a gold medal be given to the "dux" of the school, and that in all other standards first, se-' cond, and third prizes bo given, and other gifts to the children who have made satisfactory progress. Ib was arranged to hold the annual concert iii the third week in December, when the prizes will be distributed. ' , The Navy League sent a verbal request that the committee should authorise the running -of a "Prince and Princess Carnival" throughout the district schools.—lt was decided to write to the Navy League and a,sk it to submit a definite proposal to the committee. With the approval of the Education Board, it was agreed that the children should move into the new school on Monday, December 17. and that the official opening should take place after the Christmas 'holidays. Mr H. AversV. tender for doing certain work at the new school was accepted. Miss Mary McDonald is to be asked to act as honorary instructress to the girl's swimming class<\s.
