WELLINGTON, Oct. 24. Some amendments -have been made by the Statutes Revision Committee of the Legislative;; Council in the. Chrischurch Millc Supply and . Markets Amendment'; Bill. ;

Clause 4 ..that the City Council might assign, a. block of houses to a particular milk supplier. The committee lias, substituted "a given area " for " a block of houses."

The committee lias '"struck out paragraph C of, the clause, at the request of the Agricultural I)epartmehf,; which objects to any encroachment upon the duties of. its inspectors. . . When the Bill was before the Council to-day the Hon. J-. Barr moved to accept these amendments. He said the Minister of Agriculture had asked that, there should be no. overlapping of authority in relation to, the inspection of dairies. , '."."'■ The Hon. R. Moore kid the Bill provided ;'no appeal frpm : . the decisions of inspectors. Hje thought an, aggrieved dairyman should have some right of appeal.

Mr Barr said an appealcould always be made to the loeal; : 'authority.!'hThe dairyman- could not be condemned.unheard. '

The Bill as amended was finally passed by the Council. ' In the House of Representatives tonight Mr EH moved that the amendments made by the Legislative Council in the Bill be agreed...to, as they< were immaterial.
