Mr,'Xosworthy asked,.. ,the Minister for Agriculture in i tho House of Representatives to-day whether he was aware that merchants were selling what purported to be pollard and bran. Mr Noswortliy stated that the last gazetted.. prices were .£6 15s per tbn for pollard aiicl'£-i 10s per ton for bran. People were paying the Government price and getting only; -half a mixture of pollard and •'bran,,.'.if - r , that': He asked the Minister to investigate the matter, and offered to show him samples. .<■ ' The Hon. W. D. S. MacPonald, in reply, stated that the Board of Trade had received complaints on .the^subject. Samples had. been analysed, and it was quite true that there was an adulterated mixture of pollard and bran. The i Board of Trade would have to take .steps in the matter, tind another Order-in-Council would have to be gazetted. | A member: Taking action? ! Mr MacDouald: Yes, taking action. The "Gazette," he udded, would stipulate that'all pollard would have to conic up to v certain gnwle.
