HIGH SCHOOL BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING.

1 The monthly meeting of the Ashburi ton -High School Board was held this 'morning. Present: —Messrs J. Tucker (chairman), ,C. Reid, AY. H. Collins, W. B. Denshire, P. Drummond, W. T. Lill, and Rev. Geo. Miller. ' The Education Department wrote stating that capitation for,, the first Itenn on account of free pupils in attendance at the school would be paid in 102-J units, as claimed by the board. —Received. \ . ' Miss M. F. Arnott wrote stating that she would arrive in.Ashburton in time to tako up her ■'duties at the school on May 30. . . The North Canterbury Education Board wrote stating that Messrs J. Tucker and W. B. Denshire had been re-appointed as the board's representatives on the Ashburton High School Board. . Mr "W. H. Collins reported that the visiting committee had suggested that a hedge should-bo planted between tho school'and the rectory.—Mr Reid suggested a wire fence with creepers and rambler roses. —It was decided to erect a fence to protect the croquet lawn, and to hold over the matter of a permanent fence". Messrs R. Galbraith and P. Drummond wore appointed a visiting committee for the ensuing month. Accounts amounting to £136 8s Id were passed for payment.
