Mr John Payne's insatiable curiosity regarding; the nationality of all persons in. tho Dominion with foreign-looking names is said to havo become weansome to the members of the House oi Representatives, and as a result considerable interost is being taken in the following questions that appear on the Order Paper :■ — Mr Nos worthy (Ashburton) to ask the Prime Minister: Whether he is aware that one Herr Lehniann. an al-) leged German, is leader of the orchestra of tho Moving Picture Company,. Napier, of which Mr John Payne, 34.P., is a director; and whether he will cause careful inquiry to be made , as to the said Herr Lchmann, with respect to (a) the place of his birth, (b) the nationality of his parents, (c) whether is is a British subject by naturalisation, (d) if the latter, the date of the naturalisation, (c) the date of his arrival in the Dominion, and general history in either case, and (1) whether it is a fact that this company is using German-made iilms in their picture-show?

Mr Nos worthy (Ashburton) to ask tho Prime Minister—(l) Whether his attention has been called to an advertisement appearing in a paper called the "Philistine" (published in Auckland, and edited by John Payne, M.P.), relating to an alleged cure for asthma, bronchitis, hay fever, and catarrh, inserted by the Anglo-American Antiseptic Remedies Company, P.O. Bo>: 384, Auckland? (2) Whether ho is aware that this company advertises in a prominent place in its circular that its principal business places are at London, Paris, New York, and Berlin? (3) Whether the Australasian manager of the aforesaid company, stated in its circular to be John .Payne, Alpha Road, Parnell, Auckland, to whom all remittances are to be made payable, is identical with the member for Grey Lynn? (4) Whether he will, in view of the importance of the question of anti-German trade, have the necessary inquiries made without delay?
