MR JOHN REDMOND'S SPEECH
.LONDON, Nov. 24. Mr John Redmond, who returned from the front in. a troopship and aitonded, an Irish recruiting meeting in the Queens's Hall, declared that he had spent the most interesting, the. most thrilling and proudest week of his life. " Our troops are absolutely confident," ho said. " There is no pessimist at the front. For every Gcrjnan shell falling on the western front we throw fiN'e." lie gave the lie direct to Lord St.- Davids's ' allegation 1 that there were young aristocrat .shirkers ou the General Staff.
"The Irish 'troops have covered 1 themselves with glory. Belfast and Dublin men are fighting together like true ..comrades and brother Irishmen. No, power can turn these boys into enemies when they come home. 1 told King Albert that Ireland was determined to insist ou Belgium's independence, whatever sacrifice it entailed."
