AUCKLAND, Nov. 24. The arbitrators, appointed under the provisions of the Mines Act to consider the Department's contention that a third outlet is necessary' to ensure the safety of those" working in the Taupiri v , Extended Mine-at Huntly, decided that ;• no thii'd shift was necessary. The ar- • bitrators, in a memorandum, advise the sealing up of the old workings" under;, the lake and agree that the workings; under the river are quite safe. The umpire, Mr Justice Cooper, expressed ' entire agreement with the award, and supports the recommendation that the Inspector of . Mines and the Taupiri'' Company should meet in conference to 1; discuss suggestions made in regard to the recommendations of the arbitra-' tors.
