Mr A. C. Carmichael (Leiehhardt) in a letter to the Hon. W. A. Hplman, declining an offer of the appointment of Commissioner of Irrigation, says: — '"' I have decided that in this hour of the nation's most crucial need, if fresh responsibilities are to be undertaken they should be in the firing line. Therefore 1 'have decided to enlist for Service at the front."
