THE KIDMAN TRIAL,

CASE FOR THE DEFENCE. SYDNEY, October 14. In the Kidman trial! the case for the Crown closed. Counsel for the defence submitted that there was nothing to connect SerI geant Leslie with the charges. The jury and the jtftlge endorsed this, and Leslie was discharged without a stain on his character. Kidman made a lengthy statement, in which he declared that he was absolutely innocent of the charges of collusion with svny of the defendants. His business was speculative in character, and might be described' as gambling on the rise arid fall of the market. He made big profits and losses. He had certainly made big profits in this case. .As to what were called dummy tenders, he saw no harm in submitting them.
