SOCIAL AT SHERWOOD.

j A social in aid of tho Red Cross j Society. Fund was held in Mr Potrie's '; granary at Sherwood recently. There was a large attendace, and the function was in every way a very success- ! ful one. .. ' During the evening a ham, which had been kindly donated by Mr Petrie, jwas sold by Dutch auction, and realised the sum of £4 16s. Mr Thomas 'Hickman acted as auctioneer. i Music for dancing was supplied by jMiss M. Hiokman and Mr H. McCon- ; nell, and Mr Bert. Mcllraith acted as ivr o ' \ The nett proceeds (including the 'amount realised by the sale of the ham) • was £22 7s lid, which is to be paid in !to the Red Cross Fund..
