SUPPLY OF SANDBAGS.
BOY SCOUTS' OFFER. ' CHRISTCHURCH, August 11. The Minister of Defence has forwarded the following reply to Colonel Cossgrove: regarding his suggestion that, Boy. Scouts- throughout the Dominion should, make sandbags for the troops at the front: — , ■ "I am in receipt of. yours of the 4th inst., in which you state that if suitable material can bo found for the manufacture of sandbags you will bring the matter' under the notice of yo.ur various Boy Scout districts, and put the making of the bags in hand at once. The question of making sandbags is at present receiving my attention, and as soon as a decision is arrived at in the matter it will be made public. Meantime I have to thank you for your generous offer of assistance, which will t>e readily availed of in the event of its being "found necessary and practical to have bags made in the Dominion."
