LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
(Per Press Association). .-WELLINGTON, August 4. , The Council met at 2.30 p.m. After proceedings opened they wero adjourned until 3.15 to enable mem.'bers to hear speeches, made- by the :, Prime Minister and-the Leader of the. Opposition in reference to the formation of a National Government. Various Bills. On resuming, the War Pensions Bill, the Crimes Act Amendment Bill, and the Civil List Amendment Bill were received from the House of Representatives and passed all stages. The Births and Deaths Registration Amendment Bill was also read a third time and passed.
i War Anniversary. I The Hon. Sir Francis Bell moved a i resolution expressing determination to : oontinue the war to a victorious con- ' elusion. - The Honi Sir Win. Hall-Jones seconded the motion, which was carried, the members rising and singiing the National Anthem. Sir Francis Bell then moved that the Council adjourn till August 19. I The Council rose at 4 o'clock.
