METHVEN.
The following meteorological observations wore taken by Mr James Carr, at "Rudstone," Methvqn, during the month of July:—Rain fell on nine days as follows:—Eight points on the 6th, 16 on the Bth, 16 on the 9th, 26 on the 11th, 7 on the 13th, 8 on the 14th, 3 on the 18th, 31 on. the 20th, and"3 on.the 23rd, total of 1.08 inches. The. total rainfall for 1915 to date is 14.20 inches, arid for the same period I last year 25.4.0. This will serve to indicate that the Aveather has been com: para'tively dry. Frost was registered as follows:—Three degrees on the 2nd, 6 on the 3rd, 3 on the 13th; 7 on the 14th, 6 on the 15th, 6 on the 16th, 9 on the 17th, 6 on tho 18th, 3 on the 2 Ith 6 on the 25th, 6 on the 26th,. 9 on tho 27th, 9 on the 28th, 9 on the 4 on ' the 30th. The highest reading of the barometer was 30.32 inches on the 4th, and tho lowest reading 29.62 on tho 10th and . 21st. Tlie nor'-westorly wind blew on 23 days, the sou'-westcrlv on throe days, the westerly on one daty, and the easterly/on four days.
