OBSERVATIONS FOR JULY.

ASHBURTON. The following records were taken at the Ashbnrton Domain Meteorological Station during the month of July:— Highest reading of the barometer, 30.28 inches, on the 4th; lowest reading of the barometer, 29.45 inches, on the 21st; highest reading of "maximum thermometer, 65 degrees on the 7th and 10th; lowest reading of maximum thermometer, 44 degrees on the 15th; highest reading of minimum thermometer, 46 degrees on the 10th;. lowest reading of minimum thermometer, 23.5 degrees on the 27th. Frost was recorded on 20 days, as follows:—6 degrees on the Ist, 5£ on the 2nd, 8£ on the 3rd, 3 on the 4th, 4 on the 12th, 5 on the 13th, 4 on the 14th, 7 on ■ the 15th, 10 on the 16th, 1H on the 17th, 7 on the 18th, 4 on the 20th, 1 on the 22nd, 2} on the 23rd, 10 on the 25th. 11 on the 2.6 th, 12* O n the 27th, 12 on the :28th, ,7f on the 29th, and 6 on the;. 30th. The rainfall for the month totalled 94 points', recorded on the following days :—32 points on the 6th, 19 on the Bth, 2 on the 9th, I on the 10th, 25 on the 11th, 5 on the 13th, and 10 on the 20th. The total sunshine for the month was 111 hours 30 minutes. There was one day without sunshine.
