WELLINGTON, August 3. ■An important ■ comparative return showing the quantities and values of the exports from the Dominion for the nine months ended March 31, 1915, I was laid on the table of the House of ! Representatives this-afternoon by the Hon. W. H. Herries, Minister of Customs. The figures are as follows, those in parentheses being for the 1915 period :—

Butter: 395,922cwt, £2,135;669 (390.----425cwt, £2,lß9,9l4)—increase £63,245. Cheese :. 747,283cwt., £2,219,714 (666,829cwt;, £2,053,903) — decrease £165,811. Oats: 70,130 centals, £.19,585 (510,----309 centals, £203,031)— increase. £183,----446. ■■■ Wheat: 8980 centals, £3064 (1664 •centals,-£66B),—decrease-.;.£23?6.' The statistics. were supplied to the Minister by the Comptroller of Customs on the motion of Mr G. W- Russell, who asked that .the, return include all commodities raised in value by the war. and, more particularly wool, hides, meat, and "butter. .The figures are based on those shown in the Customs returns giving the value of the commodities at the time of exportation j from New Zealand, as verified by the local merchants.
