RUCBY FOOTBALL.
ASHBURTON COUNTY UNION
The usual weekly meeting of the Ashburton County Rugby Union was held last evening.. Mr W. F. Watters presided.
A letter was received from the Canterbury Rugby Union asking for further particulars regarding the protest entered by the Southern Cross President's Cup team in their first match with Old Boys.
. A letter was received from Mr T. R. Mowatt, representing' the combined Banks and Professions v. Auctioneers' match committee with regard to - arrangements in connection with the match.—lt was decided that the Union take control of the whole arrangements.—The secretary reported that he had applied for a close day at the Domain.
The Geraldine Football Club wrote asking for particulars for school teams in the seven-a-side tournament and of prizes, if any.—lt was decided to give the required'information. .
. Mr P. W. Seldori donated £1 Is towards the President's Cup. Competition trophy. . . : !
Referees were appointed as follows: —President's Cup: Southern Cross v. Rakaia,, (on Thursday at Rakaia), Mr F. 8., Robilliard; Third Grade: High School v. vSoutliern Cross, Mr S: Thomas.
Permission was granted the Ashburton Club to play an Anama Club"-team on Thursday, at Ashburton.
