£350,000 COLLECTED IN SYDNEY

SYDNEY, July 30

Australia Day evoked unprecedented entlnisiasm. The weather cleared and remained line. The streets were brilliantly decorated and lined with stalls, orchestras, ' concert platforms, and money-making devices. Unbounded optimism prevailed /in the crowded thoroughfares. A military procession, which included wounded from the Dardanelles, had a great reception.

The same carnival .spirit is reported from other cities.

An impressive intercession service was held in the Cathedral, which was thronged. It is anticipated the collections will exceed fill previous records. The Wharf Labourers' Union lias given £1000 to the Australia. Day Fund.

The city collections reached £350,000
