CAPTAIN WILDING'S DEATH.
EXTRACT FROM HIS LAST LETTER.
LONDON, July 30. Officers state that Captain Anthony Wilding was vi charge oi 1 a three--pounder gun. He directed its firing from early morning to the middle or" the afternoon, when he entered his 'dug-out.!' He was killed an hour later. !An official report spoke highly of his work. In his* last letter, written on the day ho was killed, he said: —"For the first time for seven and a half months I have got a job that is likely to end in my gun, myself, and the whole outfit being blown to hell. However there is a sporting- chance of our succeeding, which will help our infantry no end."
