Free Holmes, the well-known trainer and driver, returned to New Zealand this morning by the Makura. His three purchases will arrive from America on August 12 at Wellington by the Marama, and possibly another, for which negotiations were pending when he left. They are a six-year-old stallion Logan Pointer" (who has not been raced), by Star Pointer from Effie Logan, the dam of Jim Logan (2min lisec),' the sire of Albert S. (2min 3£scc). Dan ,Logan (2min 7}sec), and Loch Logan (2min 7isec). and four others, with an average better than 2mm ssec. The second purchase is Trixie Pointer, a yearling filly, by Demonio, the sire •of Mona Wilkes (2min 3£sec), and eight others better than 2min lOsec, and nine others under standard, and whose daughters have produced four, including Del Reg 2min OJseo. The third horse is Bonoline, a trotting filly by The Bondsman, sire of Colorado, 2min 4jJ-sec, the world's champion three-year-old trotter, and of Colonel Franklin 2min G^sec, Lizzie Brown 2min 7Jsec, The Plunger 2min 7i-sec, Creighton 2min B£sec, Grace Bond 12min 9Jsec, and 59 others under the [standard. Bonoline's dam, Madeline Marshall, is the dam of Zomblack, 2min lOJsec (trial 2min 6soc). and is related to the yearling.
