AUSTRIAN ATTACK FAILS.

ROME, July 2-3. .An official communique statest:—"We have" completed the occupation of Tofana. The enemy made several futile night attacks on the Isonzo. Tho Austrians yesterday endeavoured to advance in force against our right ou the Carso plateau, but were obliged to withdraw with heavy losses.

"An army order found on prisoners shows that the attack which we repulsed on the 22nd was in the nature of a general action for the purpose of dislodging our left wing, and was made by freshly-arrived troops."
