(From Our Own Correspondent:)

Considerable damage was done in Me&ven and district. Several roofs were blown down, including the south side of the New Zealand Loau and Mercantile Agency Company's shed, which was taken away bodily, while the galvanised iron on the roof was carried a great distance away. Three of vihe staff, who were peacefully sleeping oh the premises were aroused at an early hour,; in the morning by the noise of moving timber, etc., and quickly made an exit. Some of the soil in paddocks which had been receiitly sown has been blown away, and it is reported that a good many lambs have been lost. Chimneys were blown down, and trees were lifted out by the roots. The entrance to the tennis courts and bowling green at the Domain is completely blocked by fallen trees. A tree which fell into the large water race which runs through Methven caused it to overflow, and parts of the township were submerged. The tree was afterwards removed by a strong force of men.
