AUCKLAND, May 7. In the Supreme Court to-day Mr Justice Coopen gave his decision on a motion for a new trial in the case of John Snowdon against the "Waitomo County Council, in which the jury awarded the plaintiff £300 damages for injuries, his left hand having been shattered by detonators found near an abandoned forge. The jury held that plaintiff's injuries were due to the carelessness of the council's workmen. Plaintiff, a boy of 11 years, was playing with other boys near the abandoned forge upon unfenced land, about a chain from the main road. . "
