O'aiiiyb'-jll were charged with stealing -'£12 12s, the property of Hicks and Co.,'jewellers. The evidence showed that Hicks imported a case of German goods subject to the ordinary duty of 20 per cent, and ■ a. preferential duty of 10 per cent. , jThe proper amount of duty was -218 18s, but accused falsified the entries and, it is. suggested, also forged tjie name of Hicks. '
