WATERTON.

Methodist Church,

The anniversary services in connection with the Watertoix Methodist Church were held on Sunday, and were conducted by the Rev. E\ Nicoll, of Mayfield. The sermons, morning and evening, were of a high order, being much appreciated by the congregation. Appropriate hymns were sung at each service, and Mis Watson presided at the organ.

On Tuesday evening the annual Church social was held, and the night being fine, was well attended. Rev. B. J. James, Superintendent of the Circuit, presided, and the Rev. W. J. Elliott, of Ashburton, gave a very fine address, which gave much pleasure to the audience^ The treasurer, Mr Watson, was ablei to present a report showing a substantial credit balance. An interesting programme of musical items and recitations was contributed, valued assistance to this being given by friends from Lowcliffe and Willowby, and was well received. Those contributing to the programme ware: Songs, Messrs Lush and Brown and Missts i King, Chapman, Watson and Ford ; | recitations, Messrs Thomas ami Flail.

Mr Watson moved a comprehensive vote of thanks to all who ,3wid helped, and after the Doxology had foeen sung, and the Benediction pronounced, refreshments were dispensed, and a most satisfactory gathering came to an end.
