RIVER REPORTS. All the Canterbury rivers are reported to-day to be either clear or fishablo. A "TIP" TO FISHERMEN. • A long journey by a well-known angler on Sunday last met with a good reward, says, tho Tiniaru " Post." Owing to the galo of Avind ho could not fish the waters on the plains, so decided to motor to one of thi- gorges. Here, amid a perfect calm, wading at times almost waist deep, ho enjoyed line sport. The trout appeared to him to have never seen a fly before and took the lure greedily. The result was a well-filled basket, and a much contented angler motored joyfully home in the full force of the southerly blow. ' Next Sunday several other anglers who got nothing last week-end intend to find "that gorge," and grivo tho spotted beauties a special banquet of welldressed flies.
