EDUCATION BOARD.

The North Canterbury Education Board met in Christchureh yesterday. The Building Committee reported that further correspondence had been received from Mr J. Watson in support of application for a school in the Maronan district. It had been agreed to inquire as to what sum the residents were prepared to contribute, also to state that at least two acres should be secured for a school site. A letter had been received from the Railway Department to the effect that the accoxmt for deficiency in fares in connection with the Hampstead School excursion would be withdrawn in that instance only, but that no similar concession would be allowed under any circumstances. School committees generally should be informed of the liaili way Department's decision. The tender (£lO 10s) of Mr P. Norman, for removal of the Huntingdon School, was accepted. Ashburton Borough School: —— Rose Stevens, Elizabeth A. B. Stuart, Vera F. Cowan. The following probationer appointment was agreed to, subject to production of satisfactory medical certificate : Hampstead, Bessie M. Kenna.
