A STOREKEEPER'S SUICIDE.
Connected with Ashburton.
The dead body of Arthur Hall Fletcher, resident partner of Fletcher Brothers, storekeepers, .128 High Street, and at Ashburton, was ' discovered in the room he occupied in the shop last evening. A revolver with two chambers discharged was clasped in deceased's right hand, and two bullet wounds were found in the breast. Death had apparently taken place several days ago. . Deceased had not been carrying on the business' of late, and therefore none of those employed in the shop missed him. Last evening his brother came to town from Ashburton, and on going to the shop to take up his quarters in deceased's room discovered the body. Fletcher, who was between 35 and j 40 years of age, is said to have had domestic troubles preying on his mind. Until recently the Christchurch business was owned and controlled by the deceased, and the partnership existing between he and his brother iwas, as in the case of th^ Ashburton business, only nominal. Prior to his death, Arthur Hall Fletcher had been in very bad health, and his brother took over the business.
