OTTAWA, August 19. With a view to arranging a debate on reciprocity and naval defence in relation to the benefits accruing to French-Canadians, invitations have been extended to Sir Wilfrid Laurier and his Nationalist opponent, Mr Bourassa, to attend a political gathering. It is certain that the meeting will have an enormous effect on the Quebec vote. A record poll is.expected through Canada. Mr Oliver, Minister of the Interior, was repudiated by tho Liberals at Edmonton, but has offered to contest the constituency again. Mr Rutherford, ex-Premier of Alberta, has been nominated against him. Mr Oliver was recently involved in an alleged scandal in connection with the sale of lands.
