AUCaKLAND, August 12. The five-mile 1 cross-country championship of New Zealand was held hero todav in beautiful weather. There were sixteen starters. Hill-.(Auckland) led from the start, and finally won by 75 yards from Heatsqn (Otago).- Notman (Otago) was third man home. The.'sealed handicap in connection with the race was won by Ileatsori, witli Thompson (Otago) second, and Notman (Otago) third. The Otago team won the teams' race, Wellington boing second, and Auckland third.
