WHOLESALE BURGLARY.

PALMERSTON NORTH, March 6 In connection with the recent whole- I sale robberies of household furniture, five charges of house-breaking were preferred against Jos. Bowelka at tho Magistrate's Court to-day, and a further charge of breaking and entering tlie residence of Harold R. Cooper, Queen street, and stealing goods valued at £17 on July 27, 1907, was also preferred against accused, while it is r.umoured that a still more sensational charge is pending m reference to tlie destruction of Miss MacKay s dressmaking establishment m Campbell street. "Miss MacKay's house was burnt down while 6he was away on » holiday, and on her return her suspicions were aroused by finding no trace m the ruins of 'certain rugs and an eider down quilt. It is now stated that these articles have been discovered at accused's house m Church street.
