FIRES.

Per Press Association. CHRISTOHUROH\ September 29. A "fire occurred m a three-storey brick building m Hereford Street East, occupied principally by Montgomery and Co., grain merchants. The flames burst through the ceiling of the top floor into the surgery or Mr Whitehouse, dentist, and the contents of the surgery were considerably damaged hy fire and smoke. The building, which is owned by Mr R. Chapman, is insured for £1000 m the State Office, and £1000 m the South British. Mr Whitehouse's plant was insured for £150 m the Royal Exchange Office.
