IMPERIAL PRESS CONFERENCE.
Per Press Associate a—Copyright. LONDON, June 23. In fine sunshine the Press delegates, accompanied by ladies, journey by steamer from Balloch to the head of Loch Lomond, returning to Innversnaid, and thence going by coach to Stronalachar. After sailing^, across Loch Katrine, they drove to Callander, where they took their farewell of the Lord Provost and other Glasgow hosts. Mr Davies, of Hobart, speaking at the Glasgow Corporation's banquet, said the proofs of Britain's resources were to be seen m the hives of industry outside. London was a great object lesson to the delegates, and the sight of the nucleus to a Commonwealth navy upon the stocks suggested a hope that Australia's fleet would eventually become a great assistance to the Motherland. Mr Fink, of Melbourne, said, the citizens of the oversea dominions cherished, far above wealth the qualities, traditions and sense their Governments had inherited from Britain. To Australians, Glasgow was more than the commercial capital, of Scotland; it was a model m many respects. Local Government was the place where the sense of Imperial citizenship fructified and was strengthened by daily adherence to sound principles. The municipal government of Glasgow, with its institutions, was spreading and was being imitated over the seas.
