LOSSES BY FIRE.

Per Press Association. HOKITIKA, June 22. It was stated at the annual meeting of the Fire Board last night by representatives of the Underwriters' Association that, in spite of the efficiency of tho brigades, fires in the dominion were greatly on the- increase. Last year the insurance companies paid over £575,000 on fire losses, and the fire waste must have been well over £600,000.
