CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALES
CHRISTCHURCH, February 4. At the. wool sale to-day 7700 bales were offered. The attendance was small compared with that at recent sales, and the improvement, recorded at the January sale was not maintained, the demand being exceedingly weak. Not more than 200 per cent, of the wool offered was sold. Halfbreds showed an all-round decline from id. to l^d, and the fall in crossbreds equalled Id per lb. Merino wool also showed'a decline of about Id per lb.
The following is the range of prices: Super merino, 9*d to lOJd; medium to good, B|d to 9\d ; inferior, 7d to 8d; super halfbred, 9d to 10|d; medium to good, 7d to SfcJ f inferior, s£d to 6^d; super three-quarterbred, 7d to 8d; medium to good, Od to 63d; inferior, 03d to 53d; crossbred medium to good, 6d to 7Jd; inferior, 4Jd to s£-d; longwool, s|d to 6i|d; super Down wool, 9£d to lid; medium to good and inferior, 7gd to 9|d; Corriedale, to 9£d: Shropshire, to B^d; pieces (halfbred), 4 ; } dto B£d; crossbred, 4£d to sd; merino, 6^d to 9-Jd; locks, 2id to 52d; bellies, 3d to 7d.
