Timaru sallied down the field, and when looking dangerous McFedries snapped up the ball, and Rennie and Culverhouse taking part in a passing rush, transferred play to midfield, but the terrific onslaught of the southern forwards wa3 bound to be rewarded, and Scott getting the ball from a scrum opened play, and pass after pass saw Arscott beat Culverhouse and got over at the corner. Manning converted. Timaru, 8; Ashburton, nil. On resuming after half-time, it was apparent that the test Was too severe on the men from the Hub, and Carlton and Priest, leading a strong attack

along the line, ended in Waldie getting over at the corner. The kick at goal failed. Ashburton rallied, and led by Culverhouse and Daily carried play to Timaru territory, and McFedries improved by a line kick, but from the line-out Roddick , broke away, and a series of passing rushes ended in Ashburton 25, and a ..succeeding scrum gave Culvers a chance which he eagerly took advantage of, and scored . a well-merited try. Manning converted. Timaru, 13; Ashburton, nil. The attack continued, and by forward rushes South Canterbury gradually worked their way along the line, and centring unexpectedly the forwards broke through v and Waldie touched down just in time. Manning's kick failed. Timaru, 16; Ashburton, nil. Ashburton took a hand in attack, and worked the leather by forward dribbling to Timaru twenty-five, but hard kicking only resulted n a force-down. The final rally then took place from the halfway flag, Priest and Carlton lead-

irig the attack, and a sudden counterattack on the right wing was too effective for Ashburton, Manning threading his way over the line. No goal resulted, and no-side then sounded, South Canterbury being victorious by 19 points to nil. Mr Strachan was referee.. The visitors were entertained at luncheon by the South Canterbury llugby Union.

A junior match was playol in the Domain yesterday between teams representing the Tinwald Park and High School Clubs. Tinwald won by 14 points to 9. Mr J. Gates was the reicree.
