The inquest touching the death of the man who was drowned in the cutter Flora led to his identification as St. Clair Patrick Pfaff, son of a resident of Kumara. A buggy in which Mr D. A. Gray, "of Northcote, and his daughter were driving to town was capsized over an embankment. Mr Gray was rendered unconscious for some time, but is now. recovering. His daughter escaped inJUiy' WELLINGTON, August 9. The body of Frederick Whitehead or Charles Kitsou, who has been missing since the Ist of August, was found in a suburban gully yesterday afternoon. The deceased was over 50 years of age ( and arrived recently from Capetown. DUNEDIN, August 8. James Banks Etheridge, aged 66' years, residing in the city, was found dead in bed this morning. Death is supposed to bo due to heart disease. Dec-eased went to bed in his usual health last evening, and spoke to his wife at 5 a.m., but was found dead about an hour later.

Mrs Hannah Tremaine, aged 60, who was last seen alive on Friday, August 2, was found dead in her house in Marton street, Christchurch, on Thursr day. She lived alone, and as she had been missed the police broke into the house. She was found lying half under the bed, as if she had had a sudden seizure. Death appeared to have occurred some days ago. The body was taken to the morgue.
