THE ACCOUNTANTS' BILL.

AUCKLAND, August 8. At a largely-attended meeting of accountants, held this evening, to further consider the Accountants Bill, it was decided to recommend that the University Senate should be asked to undertake the conduct of examinations for future applicants for admission to the Institute of Accountants in conjunction with four members of the profession, to be selected by the Coimcil then in office, in accordance with Sections 54 to 57 of the Bill. It was also decided to recommend that Section 45 should be amended so as to read—"No person, unless a public accountant, shall perform for hire any auditing in connection with any company, the shares of which arc quoted on the stock-exchange, and which are offered for public subscription, building or friendly societies, but nothing in this section' shall prevent any clerk, manager, or any other person who is a salaried official of'any such company from pepforming any accountancy work in connection with the company by which he is employed."
