Sir.—Whether deserved or other- j wise/newspaper editors are often tue victims of very hostile criticism, which occasionally descends to abiise, but as most of them survive the ordeal it is to be assumed that the average journalist's fibre is uncommonly tough. Maybe they are not susceptible to more kindly influences and comments. 1 cannot, however, refrain from express : ing my sincere admiration of ths tone generally permeating your leading ar- \ tides, which are calculated, I believe, to foster a highly healthy public opi- [ nion in our prosperous county. The sentiments expressed in last night's Guardian, tinder the heading of ! "Wanted: A Now International I Ideal," beai.' the b:ill.-mark of sane reflection, and the subject dealt with might be discussed in the local Debating Societies with profit to their memter3- SERENITY,
