ASHBURTON—AUGUST 9, 1907.

(Before Mr V. G. Day, S.M.)

MAINTENANCE. Bridget Fitzgerald (Mr Acland) sued Patrick Fitzgerald (Mr Crisp) for £o, arrears on a maintenance order. Defendant; stated that he had been ill for some time and had earned very little. He had not had more than half a dozen drinks, and they were not in sly-grog shops. Defendant was ordered to pay ,-Cl per week, or in default one month's imprisonment. UNLABELLED LIQUOR. Edmund Morley was charged with sending into a no-license district, two packages containing liquor, insufficiently labelled. He pleaded guilty and j was fined 20s and costs. SLY GROG-SELLING. I Isabella Burgess was charged with I selling liquor on the 4th inst. ! Mr Crisp, for defendant, stated that i her husband suffered from asthma, and she sold the liquor to make end meets. A fine of £10 was imposed, a week being allowed for payment. A charge against James Burgess was withdrawn. CIVIL CASES. Judgment by default was given in the civil case between Robert Alcorn v. F Reeves, claim £'6 and costs. Thiee cases were struck out and two were adjourned. An order for immediate payment of £1 15s, or in default one week's 'imprisonment, was granted m i\ judgment summons, M. Johnson v. A. Steechmann.
