At the Magistrate's Conrfc here this morning a man was fined .£lO and costs, J6l Be—the maximum penalty—for transmitting through the Poßt Office a postcard bearing grossly offensive worde. The informafcion was laid by the local postmaster, Vho had intercepted the postcard. The Oamara trades pionio is being held hjtre torday in fine weather. The visitors arrived at 11 a.m by special train; the paxty numbering 1600. An eight roomed bouse at Beaconsßeld, together with nearly all its contents, was destroyed by fire last night. There were also two destructive grass fires in the district yesterday.
