LAURISTON.

Though it bss bo far been impossible to obtain authentic information from Lanriaton, from word to band it would appear that a very eeriouß fire occurred in that district yesterday afternoon. Mr W. Goodwin is stated to have been the principal Bufferer, the flames sweeping his property, the homrstead and surrounding paddocks luckily escaping injury, thanks to the gallant efforts of a band of neighbours who quickly assembled to aid Mr Goodwin. The farms of Metiers Capon and Drnmmond ore also said to have been affected, though not to any large extent. It is to be hoped that later information will show the fire to have been lees extensive than reported to be.
