FIRES.

Dunedin, Nov 8 A five-stalled stable in King street was destroyed by fire this evening, and two horses, valued at J855 each, were burned to death, The stable was* owned by R. Brown, and is believed to be insured. The Bible, Tract, and Book Society's Depot, in Princes street,' was completely destroyed, by fire to-night. The building, which was of wood and somewhat old, wai owned by S. Solomon, and is believed to have been insured. The Bible Society's stock Wes valued at £5000. There is a fluctuating insurance policy' on the stock if the Australian Alliance office and four of five other companie, but particulars are not available, The origin of the fire is' a mystery. The manager was in the build? ing about eight o'clock, and one of the em? ployees at ten o'clock, when everything appeared to be safe. Donedin, Nov. 9 By a fire at Lawrence early this morning the Commercial Hotel and an adjoining building, oocupied by Mrs Smith, were destroyed.
