Seventh Day Adventists.

The subject presented on Monday evening by Pastor Teasdale aroused unusual interest, and was of such a nature as to cause some surprise among the conscientious churchgoers. The speaker pointed his congregation to a chart on which were written the ten commandments, the fourth one of which declares the 7th day to be the Sabbath. It was evident to all that these ten commandments were the cream of the Bible and binding on all Christians, and yefc the majority of Christiana were trampling on the 4th commandment enjoining the worship of God on Saturday. The question at once arose when was this change made and by whom was the transfer made from the 7th day to Sunday, the first day of the week. The prophecy of Daniel VII was referred to for enlightenment on the question. It is generally supposed that the Apostles changed the day, but authority is wanting-for this idea to be substantiated. The leading church historian Neander says on this point:—" The festival Sunday like all other festivals was always only a human ordinance; arid it was far from the intention of the apostles to establish a divine command m this respect." The Bible m all its pages is silent on any change ever being made to Sunday. The Pastor appealed to the people to walk m the light of God's word, and cast away from their doctrines all that" were traditional and unsup-. portable by Bible testimony. Last evening the prophecies of Daniel 8 and 9 were explained, Pastor Teasdale again being the speaker. From an accurate figuring on the blackboard it was proved that an investigation m judgment began m 1844, fulfilling the time prophecy of the 2300 years. This judgment will pass over all the dead and living before Chrißt comes the second time, and those who have been found with their characters purified will be gathered at the first resurrection. This solemn time the speaker declared we have been m a long time, and must soon close and usher m the promised " day." At the services to-night, Dr D. H. Kress will lecture on "How to live m order to be useful and active m old age."
