STATEMENT BY SIR M HIOKB BEACH

London, July 18 The Budget Bill passed its third reading by a majority of 170. In debate of the Budget Bill Mr Chamberlain ridiculed Sir WVHarcourt's pessimism over the financial prospects of the late Republics. Already the Orange River Colony showed a surplus. Sir M Hicks Beach stated that the Coal \ Tax concessions, amounting to three j quarters of a million, would be provided out of loan funds He had still nineteen millions in hand. During thirteen months of the war forty-five millions sterling had been provided out of taxation.
