HUDSON'S SURPRISE PARTY.

After an absence of fifteen years the Hudson Surprise party, who have made a most successful tour round the world, will appear in Ashburton on December 10. The company has been at work down south, and is now nuking its way northwardß. A southern exchange says:—"The combination is a strong one, and an excellent feature of the performance, and one worthy of no little commendation, is the expedition with which each part of the programme is made to follow the preceding part. No time is wasted between the acts, so that the Hudson company get as much into their two hours and a-half, as any ordinary companies would present in three hours or in even a longer period. The audience has hardly recovered from their hilarity at a "ludicrette" or •'whimsicette" till their sides are strained by something still more funny, or pleasant recovery is afforded by a sentimental song well sung, or an instrumental selection artistically rendered. The company is very strong on the comic side, Hndson being a host in himself. Tho equilibria! eccentricities of Messrs Altro and Kearnssig and the 1 remarkable musical exhibition of Messrs Watkins andSherwin are alone worthy of the expenditure of the time and money."
